Advice from Tony Perkins

Tony Perkins has some advice.  I plan to follow part of it…

Which is a pretty big shock if you know who he is.

Mr. Perkins is the head of the “Family Research Council”.  When used by right wingers the word “family” is code for suppressing the rights of others.

“Until the RNC and the other national Republican organizations grow a backbone and start defending core principles, don’t give them a dime of your hard-earned money,” Perkins wrote to followers in a newsletter on Thursday. He suggested that instead they send checks directly to FRC because, “At least then you can relax, knowing that your money will be spent advancing faith, family, and freedom!”

From this article…

It is an odd concept to me that reinforcing the Christian strangle hold on American culture and law, codifying definitions of family that exclude rather than include somehow lead to freedom…

Still, I will promise not to contribute money to the GOP.

    I won’t either! (and I never have 😉 ).

Have I told you recently I really like you Doc? Well I do… The “Party of Lincoln” needs to stop hiding behind code words and find the heart and admiration for justice they seem to have abandoned.

Ahhhhh, an ode to spring. Are you sure you aren’t getting this guy mixed up with the actor in PSYCHO? (just asking)

  3. I’m always confused by the use of the words faith, family and freedom together as if they can coexist. From my point of view, when you’re involved with faith or family there can be no true freedom. Unless, of course, you run the faith and/or the family.

You have a POV that reads well for me. 😉

The only thing control has to do with freedom is that flag waving business.

I, too, pledge not to give any money to the RNC or FRC. Send your checks to Dr Manhatten VRC (Vacation Reservation Cause), at least then you can relax, knowing that your money will be spent advancing family, fun and dancing in Funkytown.

  6. I thought I was going to be advised to lock the bathroom door when showering, but this is just as pertinent. Any money I had intended sending to the RNC, will be sent instead to the Friends of Rancid Carrots, or whoever the hell that was. Of course the money I was going to donate to the RNC wouldn’t even buy a stamp to send the check, but that is beside the point.

Why SG! What a delight to hear from you you salty old sea dog. I mean that affectionately and metaphorically of course… I don’t really think you are a sea dog. I learned long ago that taking bathroom stall writings literally is a mistake. When was the last time you called one of those numbers and had “a good time”.

  7. Melissa Hart says:

I do believe that is sound advice. More money for weed that way. You know, if I smoked that kind of thing.

      • Try this one more time….

If this messes up, please delete it OK.
